It’s no secret that with the Realme 11 series, the company rebranded itself from just another budget Chinese brand to one that put effort into creating a better overall experience. As a result, expectations have been running high for the next iteration, i.e., the Realme 12 Pro series. Here is everything you need to know about it.
The lineup, consisting of the Realme 12 Pro and the 12 Pro+, will make its global debut, starting in India on January 29th.
With the Realme 11 Pro, Realme took a significant step up in terms of design, and the 12 series seems to follow suit. On the back, the Realme 12 Pro+ features a centered circular camera module surrounded by a golden dial, with a vertical golden line running through the rear panel. The power button and volume rocker on the handset’s right are also colored golden. Additionally, a leaked image showcased the Realme 12 Pro+ model in a blue color option called Submarine Blue.
Furthermore, both phones will feature the same 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED 120Hz curved display, with a center punch hole for the selfie camera.
As per the latest rumors, the base Realme 12 Pro will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1, while the bigger brother will run on the upper-midrange Snapdragon 7s Gen 2. To put things into perspective, the 6 Gen 1 features 4 Cortex-A78 cores at 2200 MHz and 4 Cortex-A55 cores at 1800 MHz. In terms of raw power, the chipset achieves a score of 941 in Geekbench’s single-core test and 2748 in the multi-core test. On the other hand, the 7s Gen 2 scores 1011 in Geekbench’s single-core test and 2915 in the multi-core test. In addition to the processor, the 12 Pro+ will include up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.
With Xiaomi bringing some heated competition in the form of the Redmi Note 13 Pro+, Realme has also decided to step up its game by housing a genuine triple-camera setup. Unlike other brands, the 12 Pro+ will reportedly include a 50MP Sony IMX 890 main camera sensor, along with an 8MP UltraWide sensor and a 64MP telephoto camera with up to 120x digital zoom.
While the exact details about the camera setup of the regular 12 Pro are still unclear, recent reports suggest that it will also include a triple-camera setup, excluding the telephoto sensor. Coming to the front, both phones will feature the same 16MP selfie camera.
According to a video from the Spanish YouTuber Isa Marcial, the Realme 12 Pro series will feature Realme UI 5.0 running on top of Android 14. Furthermore, the lineup will receive two years of Android updates and three years of security patches.
Both the 12 Pro and the 12 Pro+ will house the same 5,000mAh battery. However, the exact charging specifications are still under wraps.
With Xiaomi positioning its Redmi 13 Pro+ in the 30,000 INR range, Realme is expected to follow suit with the 12 series. The 12 Pro could start at 25,000 INR ($300), while the 12 Pro+ might launch near 30,000 INR ($361).
