MG Motors plans to improve the electric range of Hyundai Kona-rival MG ZS EV for the 2022 launch. MG ZS EV is an electric SUV from the British automaker, and the 2022 ZS EV will likely have an improved range of 311 miles (500 km).
At the moment, ZS is the only electric SUV rival to Hyundai Kona electric in India. Moreover, MG ZS EV has made rounds for all the internet-powered connectivity features that set it apart from its competitors.
The current MG ZS EV is powered by a 44.5 kWh li-ion battery offering an electric range of 340 km. Whereas, the Hyundai Kona electric provides a range of more than 420 km with a 39.2 kWh li-ion battery.
With up to 500 km of electric range, the 2022 ZS EV will be the longest-range electric vehicle in the country if other competitors don’t arrive.

Apart from that, it seems that the rest of the features will remain the same with a few minor updates. Rajeev Chaba, president of MG Motors India, said the company wants to be the leader in EV space therefore MG will introduce a battery with a 500 Km range.
Another EV From MG Is Coming To Support ZS EV
On the other hand, the reports also suggest that the company is planning to launch a much more affordable electric vehicle in India. This affordable EV will be priced at around Rs 15,00,000. As there are very few electric vehicles in India, the British automaker wants to grab this opportunity to lead in the EV sector when there is time.
The automaker has not revealed any further information regarding its affordable EV. However, whenever it gets launched, it will likely rival Tata Nexon EV.
The price of Tata Nexon EV starts from Rs 13,99,000, which is fairly affordable if compared with MG ZS and Hyundai Kona.
Currently, the price of MG ZS EV starts from Rs 20,88,000 (ex-showroom). On the other hand, the price of its rival, Hyundai Kona starts from Rs 23,75,000 (ex-showroom).
